Donghae woke up from his nap, rubbing his eyes. Looking to his bedside table for the clock, he realised he had overslept. "I've been sleeping for 3 hours now! I'm supposed to play with Hyuk..." Throwing the covers off of him, he went to the toilet to wash up. After, he walked down the hallway to Eunhyuk's room. It's time for my daily hinting. Smiling, he knocked on the door.Eunhyuk opened it, then waved him in. Grinning, Donghae side-stepped around Eunhyuk and entered the room. "Sorry, I overslept. But we can play now! So what do you wanna do?" Eunhyuk didn't respond, and instead just moved over to his table and sat down. Frowning, Donghae walked towards him. Looking at him, Donghae tried to interpret his expression."Is something wrong, Hyuk?" He simply shook his head, not saying a word. He seemed to be thinking about something. Shrugging, Donghae settled on the side of his bed, deciding to give him time. He watched Eunhyuk closely, wondering what was making him think so hard. Finally, after around 10 minutes, Eunhyuk stood up, "Let's go.""Okay. Go where?" Eunhyuk replied steadily, "Anywhere, as long as it's with you." Donghae couldn't help but smile at that, but somehow there was something weird about the way Eunhyuk said it. It didn't sound as if he meant it, it sounded more like he was testing him. Eunhyuk had a searching expression, he was looking intensely at Donghae, as if he was trying to fix together pieces of a puzzle.Donghae frowned, confused. "Why are you looking at me like that?" Eunhyuk shook his head, "Nothing." He went back to normal, and looping his hand through his, they made their way out of the house. Donghae suspected something was wrong, but thought that Eunhyuk would tell him if he wanted to. They just walked around the neighbourhood aimlessly, talking as they went along."Hae? I have something really important to tell you." Donghae tilted his head, curious, "What?" They stopped walking, and Eunhyuk turned so that they were face to face. "I don't want you to get shocked or anything, okay?" Donghae felt his heart beat slightly faster, he didn't know what Eunhyuk wanted to say. Taking a deep breath, Eunhyuk began. "I think I like you-"At that, Donghae became flustered, his face slowly turning red. He couldn't control himself, his smile felt big enough to touch the sky. But looking up, Donghae realised Eunhyuk's expression was the same as before, it was as if he were analyzing Donghae's reaction. But in truth, that was exactly what Eunhyuk was doing. In the time that he had spent alone, trying to figure out his feelings for Donghae, he had realised that he did indeed love him.However he wanted to further affirm his feelings, and he also wanted to confirm Donghae's feelings for him. Despite all the affection Donghae was showing him lately, he wanted to be a hundred percent sure. Eunhyuk coughed, then quickly continued, "You...'re mother's cooking. Do you think she'll teach me one day?" Donghae's shoulders slumped, his hopes dashed."Yeah, I'm sure she wouldn't mind." Disappointed, Donghae continued walking ahead. Eunhyuk stood there, smiling, happy with the reaction he got. Though he was guilty that he had to lead Donghae on like that, but he was glad that Donghae seemed dejected, because he would only react that way if he had feelings for him. Laughing, he ran up to Donghae and kissed him on the cheek, catching him by surprise."That's great." Donghae felt so confused, he didn't know why Eunhyuk was acting this way. But either way, he was happy. The person he loves just kissed him, how could he not be? Deciding to question Eunhyuk about his weird behaviour later, he smiled, and they continued walking.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~When they eventually decided to go back home, Eunhyuk attempted testing Donghae just one last time. "Hey, let's say if one day I were to get into trouble, and I needed your help, what would you do?" Stumped by the randomness of the question, Donghae pasued for a while, but later replied, "Depends on what type of trouble you got into."Eunhyuk bit down on his lower lip, thinking. "Lots of trouble, really big trouble." Donghae smiled, then turning to face Eunhyuk, said, "Then I'd give you lots of help, really big help. Hyuk, You know no matter what happens I'll be here for you, right?" Eunhyuk smiled, once again amazed at how effortless it was for Donghae to be so selfless."Let me ask you one last question then. Why? Why would you help me? Based on what?" At that, the smile dropped from Donghae's face, and a serious expression slowly took over. "Because you're one of the most important people to me, and I'd do anything for you. Never, ever, forget that." Eunhyuk was so taken aback by his reply, and looking at Donghae, he realised how sincere his reply was, how true.Eunhyuk put aside all his thoughts of trying to test Donghae's love for him, he realised there was no need to. A person like Donghae, if he loved you, he loved you with all his heart, there was no need to doubt it. He wrapped his arms around Donghae's waist, his chin resting on his shoulder. "Thank you, Hae." He felt Donghae's arms wind around his back, pulling him closer. "There's no need to."Eunhyuk felt himself coming close to tears, and he quickly used his sleeve to wipe them away. He now recognised how much Donghae means to him. It wasn't because he has a soft personality that he always cries at what Donghae does for him. It's because what Donghae does for him, time and time again, is always so heart-felt, so thoughtful.He wished he had the courage to tell him how he felt about him, how grateful he was, how happy he was. But for now, he'd just have to hold it in until he could. Now, in the arms of Donghae, he was satisfied. He knew that one day, he would be able to profess his feelings towards him, but just not today. Till then, saying it to himself in his head, it would have to do. I love you, Lee Donghae.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~They reached home, and they both went into their own rooms, agreeing that they should rest a while. Donghae sat in front of his window, looking out at the trees, the clouds. He smiled, remembering how Eunhyuk had kissed him on the cheek earlier. It was only much later, when they were walking back home, that he had realised why Eunhyuk was acting so strangely.Eunhyuk was doing to him exactly what he had been doing to Eunhyuk for the past few days - trying to see if he had feelings for him. He was elated, knowing that Eunhyuk now loved him back. And he knew that the way he reacted to Eunhyuk's actions would give Eunhyuk the answer he wanted, that he does indeed love him.However now he had something new to worry about. "How do I confess to him?" Sighing, he tried to come up with ways to tell Eunhyuk how he felt. Even though Donghae knew they both were now aware of each other's feelings, someone still had to confess first, right? He racked his brain, but yet nothing seemed to work.Standing up, he thought to himself. Maybe I should just leave it be for now, there's no rush right? Besides, it gives us time to build a stronger relationship. He left his room and went downstairs in search of some snacks. He went into the kitchen, where his mother was. "I know you're hungry, just hold on. I'll make you some sandwiches.Smiling, he thanked his mother. "You always know what I want." His mother had her attention on the chopping board, she was slicing lettuce, ham and cheese. The bread was already in the toaster. Leaning on the counter, Donghae rested his chin on his hand, watching his mother. While watching, an idea suddenly came to mind. They say a woman's advice, is the best advice."Hey mum? How did Dad confess to you?" His mother looked up, a knowing smile growing on her face. "Why do you ask? Do you like someone?" Donghae avoided her gaze, looking at the cupboard behind her instead. "Just curious." Mrs Lee turned back to the chopping board, "Well, we were in the park, when he suddenly took out a rose, and he told me he loved me."Donghae cringed, it was so... cheesy. "And did you like it? The way he confessed?" HIs mother laughed at that, "Well... Let me just put it this way. Hae, I love your father. No matter how he confessed to me, I would have liked it. It's the sincerity that counts."Donghae smiled, That was all the help he needed. He thanked his mum, then brought the sandwiches up to his room. His mum was right. If Eunhyuk were to confess to him, no matter in what way, he would have liked it. Because he loves him.
