Twenty Two (1/1)

ChapterTwenty Two “What… are you guys doing here?”“Let’s hang out!” the gang – not including D.O, Lay and Kris and oh, Suho as well (which was incredibly rare) – chanted in sync.Hyo Ri pulled a face, partly feeling pissed off for having her only ever time of peace disturbed. “Don’t bother me when I’m eating…” she muttered as they all crowded around her table. If Cho Hee didn’t skip school to go sale shopping with Eun Mi, she could’ve acted decoy for Hyo Ri to escape. And also hyperventilate for being surrounded by a bunch of hot guys.“Come on!” whined Chanyeol as him and Baekhyun unleashed their puppy-eyes duo attack on her. “That new girl took Sehun captive!”“Yeah!” said Chen. “She took Luhan as well!”“Apparently they’re ‘catching up’ on some things.” Kai said, making quotation marks with his fingers.“That’s nice to know,” Hyo Ri replied, feeling more annoyed than usual. “But please leave.”“Let’s go play at the arcade!” Baekhyun begged. “You were awesome at Tekken, remember?”“That’s exactly why I’ll kick your ass,” Hyo Ri said, taking a bite out of her sandwich. “So no.”“Woah, you’re good at Tekken?!” exclaimed Chen, his eyes widening.“No –““Yeah she is!” cut in Chanyeol excitedly. “I think she’s better than Luhan!”Tao and Xiumin soon joined in as well. “Really?!”“I’ve never played with anyone better than Luhan.” Xiumin said.Chanyeol, Baekhyun, Kai, Xiumin, Tao and Chen looked at Hyo Ri in a way that made her automatically imagine them with big puppy ears as well as wagging tails along with it.“HYO RI!” they shouted.“Oh shut up!” She gave Chanyeol – who just so happen to be closest to her – a kick, knocking the rest of them down like dominoes.“Sorry, we tried to stop them.” Said Kris.“It’s okay,” Hyo Ri sighed. “It’s impossible to stop these annoying things.”“If we’re troubling you too much, we can leave,” said Lay with a small smile. Hyo Ri wrapped an arm around his neck and pulled his head in next to hers, much to his – and most of the gang’s – surprise.  “Why can’t you idiots ever be this cute and considerate like Lay, huh?” She said, peering at the fallen six.“So Lay’s your type!” Chanyeol gasped, jumping up. “We never knew!”“Actually Kyungsoo is okay too,” said Hyo Ri, letting go of poor Lay whose ears have gone pink. “He’s good at cooking.”Baekhyun gasped. “So you like midgets!”D.O shot him a glare. “Fuck you.”Hyo Ri glanced at Kris. “Kris is good too. Quiet, reserved, cool. Calm and collected.”Chen gasped. “She’s going for the player! Don’t do this, Hyo Ri!”“He may not look like it but he’s broken many hearts!” said Xiumin.“Especially from girls who’re older than him.” Added Tao.“Stop saying crap.” Sighed Kris.Hyo Ri turned to Suho who was grinning like a retard, waiting for his turn of praise. She made a face. “No, Joonmyeon, just no.” He pouted as the others laughed at him.“You’re so mean, Hyo Ri!” Suho cried.“Truth,” Hyo Ri shrugged. After a moment of looking at them, she finally raised the question that was bugging her for a while. “How close are they?”“Luhan and Seoyeon?”“Sehun and Seoyeon?”She looked at the ten and slowly nodded. “…Yeah.”“I think Seoyeon is childhood friends with the two of them.” Replied Baekhyun.“Don’t you guys know her?” Hyo Ri asked.Baekhyun shrugged. “Not personally.”“We’ve heard of her,” said Kai. “But never really met her in person.”Hyo Ri let out a frustrated sigh to receive a look from all of them – yep, all ten – in return.“…What?”“Are you jealous?” they asked.Hyo Ri scoffed. “No.”“Are you sure?”Annoyed, Hyo Ri unleashed another kick at Chanyeol, sending him yelping in pain. “Why me?!”“Are these your friends?”Everyone’s attention shifted.Not feeling any better, Hyo Ri looked up as well, immediately shooting Sehun and Luhan a glare each, once she met their gaze. The two quickly introduced the gang and each of them exchanged greetings with each other while Hyo Ri sat there uncomfortably, feeling out of place.She was already feeling freaked out enough by the scary doll-perfect figure of the new girl and couldn’t stand being there any longer. Just when she stood up and was about to leave, both Luhan and Sehun grabbed her hand at the same time.“What are you doing?” Hyo Ri said, peering at the two. The both of them blinked and looked back at her, quite blanked out themselves.“Luhan? Sehun?”  Seoyeon’s voice brought them back to reality and they quickly let go of Hyo Ri’s hand.It must be that time of the month again… Hyo Ri thought, realising that she was getting annoyed again very quickly at everything around her. Glancing at them one last time, she shook off the suffocating feeling inside her and walked off.  After another two periods of class, Hyo Ri finally escaped from the classroom, narrowly dodging anyone from the gang plus Seoyeon on the way out. She reached the rooftop and settled down around the corner with her lunch.Suddenly, the door to the rooftop opened.Just when she thought she was able to get some peace.“Is she there?” It was Chanyeol.“Nope,” replied Sehun’s voice. “Where the hell is she?”“We should look somewhere else.” She heard Baekhyun call out.With that, the door closed, leaving her in silence with the wind again. Hyo Ri sighed, opening her lunchbox. She has yet to determine how to act around Sehun. Didn’t he just sort of flat out reject her by saying their ‘likes’ weren’t the same?And Luhan. As if their relationship wasn’t complicated enough already, her heart decided to go all funny and icky on her when she sees Seoyeon and Luhan/Sehun together – she didn’t really know which one of them exactly that made her feel like that since well, Seoyeon was always with the both of them.The only thing that she’s actually grateful for is probably the fact that no gangs have gone after her whatsoever in the last couple of weeks also. Thank God for that since she’s already got enough on her hands.Almost choking on her food at the sudden opening of the door again, Hyo Ri punched her chest and quieted down as two people made it onto the rooftop.“Luhan.”“What?”“Do you like that girl?”Is she talking about me? Hyo Ri wondered, actually quite amazed that someone would actually refer to her as a ‘girl’.“It doesn’t concern you.” Luhan answered.“You’re really cruel, Luhan,” she heard Seoyeon say. “How can you do this to ahjusshi?”There was silence for a while.“How can you like the daughter of the man who tried to kill him?”Hyo Ri placed down her fork. It’s that feeling again. That suffocating feeling she felt in her chest before that made it hard to breathe. She finally managed to get some air now so why?Why was it coming back?  “Shut up,” Luhan said sternly. “Stop talking about it.”He knew.“It’s true, isn’t it?”He knew that he wasn’t supposed to.“I told you to shut up,” he said, louder this time.“You’re going to regret this Luhan,” Seoyeon replied, not backing down. “That girl is going to ruin your life.He wished she stopped going on about Hyo Ri. He was already constantly questioning their far from complicated relationship and with the things right now, he didn’t really need anyone else make things more complicated for him – or for her.“Look,” he sighed. “I don’t give a shit about Lee Hyo Ri.”That’ll get her to shut up. “So just stop talking about her.”A scoff could be heard, followed by the sound of something falling to the ground. Hyo Ri kicked away her lunchbox and appeared out from behind the place she was sitting at. She walked over and stood in between Seoyeon and Luhan.“So,” she turned to Luhan. “In the end, we can’t be anything other than mortal enemies, huh?”He didn’t say anything and just looked at her. That made everything even more laughable on her side.Another scoffed escaped her lips as she walked straight through the two of them without looking back. As she went passed them, Hyo Ri could’ve sworn she saw the lightest smirk spread across Seoyeon’s face.“Fuck,” Hyo Ri cursed as she pulled the door to the rooftop shut. She didn’t know why but it was getting harder to breath. It was a miracle she didn’t choke on her own words before. Hyo Ri punched her chest again and forced out a cough.“Having these sort of feelings were more troublesome than I thought…”  Annyeonghaseyo!!I'm backkkk after an exactly 21 day hiatus. Yeah, I've been keeping count.It's been three weeks. Sooooo lonngg ><I missed you guys :')There's been some who came and go but thank you once again to all of you guys who stayed with me all this way!I've roughly planned the rest of this story so I'm hoping you will continue to stick with me to the end. To clear me head, I've started a couple new stories. Our Secret - It's an exactly 12-chaptered story that I'm writing for a contest ft.
