Lose with eloquence and s (1/1)

“It’s settled! You’re not going home today!”, SooHyun fist pumped the air joyfully, smiling.MiSo chuckled at the silly boy.“So, since we have the rest of the day, what do you want to do? We could go for a walk, eat something, you know, a really romantic date.”, SooHyun said with a mischievous smile.“Actually, I like being here. I would like to stay a little longer. This tree brings me back to memory so many good things. She has been our only friend for a while now.”, MiSo smiled absently, touching in some of the leaves.“If you want to, then let’s stay here.”, SooHyun agreed, smiling.Hugging MiSo, they stayed there, under the big tree, remembering all they good times spent there. Unfortunately, for them, good was always preceded by sadness. “Where were you?!”, he asked angrily – and probably drunk - looking threateningly at MiSo.“I had a school project and so I stayed there until now doing it.”, MiSo answered with the best lie she could come up. She didn’t expect him to be at home or, at least, care about the times she would arrive home.MiSo would never tell her brother about SooHyun. She couldn’t, as she didn’t know how he would react. He was instable and mean. She would never tell him.“Next time make sure to inform me!”, her brother turned around and left towards his bedroom.“I’m hungry! Hurry up and make dinner!”, her brother yelled from the room.“Yes.”MiSo sighed, happy to have escaped easily. But still, curiosity as to why her brother was suddenly so concerned hovered in her mind. He had never cared about anything related to her, why now? Maybe he wanted to control something in his life, since he couldn’t control anything else. He was bossy, but he had never asked her for clarifications. He never had to anyways. She did everything he told her, afraid of what he could do to her.Dismissing that thought, MiSo recalled the great afternoon she had spent that day with SooHyun, while making dinner. They had decided to visit a fair and they had lots of fun. They took pictures, pictures she would kept near her forever. They ate ice-cream, they sand, they danced and they enjoyed each moment together. She was so happy. Not just because of that day, but because of everything. Since she was with SooHyun, her world was better, brighter and happier. And her brother would never know.MiSo smiled, remembering SooHyun’s goofiness. She was almost finishing dinner, when, without her notice, her brother walked in the kitchen, furious, clenching something in his hand. He approached her and she felt a presence, turning around a little startled.“You should be scared.”, he growled.MiSo shivered, seeing her brother that angry. She didn’t understand why he was that way, but she knew something bad would happen. She didn’t even dare to make a sound.“Did you have fun? I love you.”, he said, trying to control his voice.MiSo looked at him questioningly and then she noticed he was grabbing something. It was her cellphone. Only then she realized.“I…”, MiSo was going to justify herself, but her brother didn’t let her finish.“Where were you?”, he asked, trying not to scream.“I was…”“You lied to me! You little bitch! Do you have a boyfriend? And you didn’t even tell your own brother?!”, he asked, throwing her the cellphone. It hit her head, living a red mark. Yet, MiSo didn’t move a single muscle. She was almost shivering with fear.“You lied to me, Ahn MiSo! I hate when people lie to me!”, he yelled and grabbed her, pushing her to the living room. Her brother had anger issues. He would get really angry sometimes – mostly when he was drunk – and she was always the one he vented on. He had also problems with people who lied to him. Their mother was probably the biggest liar they had met, telling them how much she cared about her children and how much she loved them – when she was home and sober. But she was practically never at home – or sober - , only going there when she needed money.“I’m sorry!”, MiSo cried, trying to escape from her brother.“You slut! You’re just like mom!”, he pushed her dark, slightly wavy hair, making her scream in pain.“Cry as much as you want! Do you think I care? No one cares! No one gives a damn about you, you bastard!”, he yelled in her face. He was a bully. He liked to bring others down to make himself feel better. But MiSo was emotionally stronger. She had to.He punched and kicked the girl, pushing her against the walls. He then pushed her and she felt. A piece of paper felled from her pocket and he picked it up.It was a photo.“Is this your boyfriend?”, he laughed terribly, showing her a photo of her and SooHyun posing goofily to the camera.“Don’t…”, she cried as he ripped the photo apart. Her brother continued to beat her, mistreating her soft features. Her eyes were swollen from the punches and the crying, her nose was bloody, her lips busted open and her cheek-bones red and aching. Her back and stomach were stinging from the kicks, her head hurting from the screams and her legs trembling from the fear.He had never done anything like that to her. And she just wanted to run away from everything. When finally her brother thought she had learnt her lesson, he left, probably to go drink, leaving her suffering on the floor. She was crying. She wanted desperately to call SooHyun but she didn’t want him to see her like that. She just didn’t.Gathering all her strength, MiSo got up and went to take a bath. She was still crying but she knew she had to be strong. She had to find a way to get out of that house. Her brother had become more violent than ever. She knew she had to do something; she couldn’t just stay there and be weak. After a long, warm bath, she applied some medicine in her injuries, dressed a soft pajama and went to sleep. The next day she woke up sore. She took another bath, dressed with some difficulty and used as much concealer as she could to disguise her bruises. She didn’t want anyone to see them especially SooHyun.MiSo’s brother wasn’t at home and that made her feel more at ease. She took her time and when she finally left home, she was feeling a little better, thinking she would see SooHyun. When she got to school, she immediately spotted SooHyun. He had a smile plastered on his face and was heading in her direction. As soon as he got close enough to notice the bruises, his face immediately turned dark, erasing all evidences of his sweet smile. He looked almost dangerous.“What happened?”, he asked, examining her face. They skipped school that day. MiSo was too ashamed, imagining what would happen when other people noticed. The ended up going to the park, to their special place, under the willow tree. There, MiSo told him everything that had happen the day before. SooHyun was so mad his veins were almost popping out.“He ripped the photo apart. It’s gone now.”, she said low spirited.“Hey, it’s ok. You took lots of them.”, SooHyun softly caressed MiSo’s bruised face. It hurt him seeing her like that. He wanted revenge. He swore he would do anything to protect her. That night, MiSo was afraid of seeing her brother. But he didn’t show up.When MiSo got home, the next day, she found her ripped picture putted together with adhesive tape on top of her bed. A note was by its side. Don’t you ever be late again because of him. They stayed in the same place for two more hours.“Are you tired?”, SooHyun asked MiSo.She yawned.“I’m good.”, she smiled at him.He laughed at her.“Silly girl.”, he ruffled her hair. She slapped his hand away, chuckling.“You know what?”, SooHyun asked MiSo, sitting up.“What?”, she smiled at him.“We should elope together.”, he said, looking at the sunset between the willow leaves.MiSo simply sighed, cuddled in him, resting her head in his chest. It was a really good idea. But what would they do? Where would they go? How would they provide for themselves? Things had to be planned.“I’m serious.”, he continued when she didn’t say anything.MiSo looked at him with hopeful eyes.“We could escape all this.”, he motioned a big circle with his left arm, while his right one rested on MiSo’s shoulders.“I wish.”, she sweetly wondered.“And we can. Actually, we should have done it a long time ago.”, SooHyun stated determinedly.
