Whos the Child Again? (1/1)
Summertime songss! :3Ze:A - Watch OutIt was June and it was very hot. You were walking to your job, but it was a long way. Since you lived in the country, there were a lot of open fields of grass and small flowers. You often stopped there to make flower headbands and lay watching the clouds go by. Since no one was really around, you sang to yourself quite a lot."...31 Days in JuneMy only mission was to find youYes, I may be broke and I'm spentBut my love will pay the rent..."This particular day, even though you were singing and walking, you were running late, so you decided to skip the field. Good thing you did, or else you would've noticed the man laying in the grassy field listening to your singing. You jumped onto the bus and headed for the daycare, the 3rd stop. You had never missed the stop, you kids were depending on you. Yes, you worked at a daycare and yes, you enjoyed it, sometimes (most times) more than being with adults. You stepped off the bus and briskly walked around the corner, through a park, across a bridge, and past a small market place."Good morning, Min Ah!" The people in the market place knew you well since you passed there everyday. "Good morning!" You waved at them. You never really stopped to talk to them. Adult were so annoying. They always treated younger people the same. To them, anyone under 25 years old was dumb. So you tried to stay as far away from adults as possible. Around the corner from the market place, was the daycare. "MIN AHHH!!!"The kids yelled and surrounded you. You laughed at their enthusiasm. "GOOD MORNING!!!" You exclaimed back. You smiled at the other partners who were laughing at you. "Good morning, Kumi."Kumi was about the same age as you. She worked the same hours as you and was the closest thing that you had to an adult friend. Kumi had an accent so sometimes it was hard to know what exactly she was saying. She was mostly in charge of the nursery toddlers, the ones that couldn't walk or talk. "Good mornin', Min Ah."Quickly you hung up your jacket and threw on an apron. "Who's ready to play?!" "YEAH!!!" The children gathered around. "Okay! Let's play a game that everyone can play!""Yuni too?" Yuni was a regular baby at the daycare. She was only four months old. Since she could hardly sit up on her own, Kumi carried her in a carrier on her back. "I don't think Yuni can play just yet." You smiled at Yuni's big sister. "Maybe next time." Patting her head, you said to the rest of the children. "Ok! Who wants to play pirates?!" You had gotten off of work at 3:30 pm. The day had been long. It always was, but you enjoyed it a lot. From playing food at snack time to seeing the sleepy faces at nap time. You liked children a lot, but it was about time for your nap time. Everyone had left before you. Before you got to leave, all the children had to be picked up. There was only one more left, Chinho. He was always the last one, because both of his parents worked long hours. Sometimes you went to pick him up from his house because his parents were on their way to work. "Bye, Min Ah! See you tomorrow!" Chinho waved at you, took his mother's hand and then left. Quickly, you cleaned the carpet and vacuumed up the crumbs of food of the ground. By the time you had wiped the small tables clean, it was already about time for the bus to arrive. The bus was never late, nor did it wait for anybody. You looked at the clock on the wall. "Oh jeez!" You had about 10 minutes to make it or else you would have to wait two hours for the next bus. You hurried back on the same path you had always taken. Before your eyes, the bus had stopped and gone again. You were two seconds too late. As the bus drove off, you yelled "HEY!!! Wait a minute!!!" The bus wasn't coming back. You sighed. "Might as well get some shopping done while I'm waiting..."Slowly, you trudged over to the market place. Walking through the aisles made you at ease again. You hummed the song you had been singing that morning and thought about what you were going to make for dinner. Finally, you decided to make grilled chicken. For the dish you were going to need peanut sauce, but the jar was on the top shelf. "Damn it! I can't reach it!" You stood on you tippy toes, but you still couldn't reach it. Suddenly, a body is behind you and long slender fingers wrap around the jar, pulling it down to your level. "Ah! Thank you very much." You took the jar in your hands and turned around to meet the stranger's eye. Your face bumped into his chest. You were startled. Looking up, you saw that he was gorgeous! And I mean, to DIE for, gorgeous. Usually, you weren't attracted to adults, but this one was different, somehow. You struggled to get words out. "Ah..um...well........Thanks!" You bowed quickly and then sped to the checkout counter. When you got outside the store, you saw "him" again. Quickly, not wanting to make eye contact, you passed by him and sped back over to the bus stop. Sitting down on the bench, you pulled out an ice cream that you had bought from the market. Ice cream was definitely your weakness. Seeing that no one was around, you started to sing."Hey." Someone sat beside you. You immediately stopped singing. "He-" You looked around. It was him. That guy from the store. The "Hey" was suddenly stuck in the back of your throat. "You know, the bus doesn't come for another hour." "Um...yeah..." You wanted to say something witty, but you just couldn't. "Should I take you home?" The guy just kept looking at you. You couldn't look into his eyes. It was too nerve-racking. "Well, you don't know my name or where I even live. What if I live miles and miles away? Matter-a-fact, you don't know anything about me!" For some odd reason, he made you mad. "Well, MY name is Kris. You live 10 miles away, and you like to sing on your way to the bus stop." You looked at him in surprise. He had placed a smug grin on his lips. That made you angrier. "What are you?! Some kind of stalker?" "Nah, I can just hear you from where I lay in the grass. The fact that we met was a complete coincidence. Now how about that ride?" You gave him a look of disgust. "Why should I?""Because, you have to wait another hour and a half. Your ice cream will melt." You looked at him fiercly, getting ready to snap back, but then you saw his face. His smile was completely different from the one before. It was sincere and sweet. When Kris smiled like that, in your eyes, he looked more like a cute little kid. "Okay...." You couldn't resist his cute smile. "But only for the ice cream." Kris stood up and held out his hand out to you. You gazed at it a minute before taking it. Hesitatly, you put your hat in his and you let him pull you up. When you were standing, you reached to shake his hand. "Well might as well know my name, it's Min Ah." You smiled. Kris looked at your had for a minute and decided to lean in for a hug instead. That surprised you. You didn't know if you should hug him back, but by that time, he had let go. You blushed wildly. Your heart wouldn't stop racing. It startled you a little. "Actually, I think I'll ride the bus after all...." Before you could sit back down, when Kris put a hand around your shoulder. "Rejected." He winked at you. Your heart started to pound some more. You let him take your bags. With his arm still around your shoulder, Kris lead you to his car.
