Jinki liked living in the woods. It was peaceful and quiet, and he knew the forest like the back of his hand. Each time he went on a hike he went deeper into the forest than before, wanting to explore as much as possible, walking until he was tired enough to return home. Today he was afraid he'd hiked too far–weary and sweaty, he was about to turn back when he heard a small noise, much like bells, from the underbrush. Following the sound, he saw a warm yellow glow from under a dead leaf on the forest floor. He picked the leaf up, curious, astounded by the sight underneath. There was a small and beautiful humanoid figure laying in the grass, curled up. It had milky pale skin, tiny thin limbs, and a head of light brown hair. It appeared to be asleep. Sprouting from its back were a pair of translucent wings, faintly purple in color. Jinki blinked.A fairy. He had found a fairy.  Jinki closed his cabin door, shrugging his jacket off his shoulders and throwing it on his bed. He sat at his desk, slowly opening his left hand. The fairy was in his palm, eyes gently closed. He set it on his desk, and its eyes opened, looking around.Upon close examination, Jinki had seen why the fairy was laying on the forest floor. It was injured, right wing bent with the tip of it hanging down uselessly. Jinki also guessed that the fairy was male–though its hair came past its shoulders, it had strong cheekbones, a straight nose, and an overall manly complexion. The fairy slowly stood, dusting off his tan pants and readjusting the frayed collar of his red shirt. He looked up at Jinki, blinking slowly and trying to open his wings. One of them extended, sunlight shining through to display a glittering array of fluorescent colors. The other wing opened about halfway, the fairy shifting his shoulder, pain showing on his face.“Don’t hurt yourself.” Jinki said quickly, extending a cautious hand. “You’re injured. That’s why I brought you to my house.”The fairy blinked at him.“I want to take care of you.” Jinki replied earnestly. A wide smile graced the fairy’s face, and Jinki again heard that sound of small chiming bells.“Are you hungry?” Jinki asked. There was more chiming—the fairy talking, Jinki realized—the small head nodding so quickly that his bangs flopped. Jinki extended his hand, the fairy stepping into his palm. As Jinki walked to his kitchen the fairy climbed up on to his shoulder, standing and holding his ear for stability. The feeling of the tiny hand made Jinki smile as he opened his fridge. He stared at the food for a few moments before asking“What do fairies eat?”He could have sworn the bell sound that reached his ears this time was laughing.  And so days passed. Jinki managed to bandage the tiny wing to the best of his ability—the only thing left was let time do its work.Jinki always needed to have the fairy in his sights. His biggest fear was stepping on him or hitting him accidentally; for someone so accident-prone it wasn’t an irrational concern. Luckily though, the fairy liked being around him, often insisting on being carried everywhere. Jinki took a great liking to the small creature, and when the say came that the bandage could be removed and he could fly again, he felt a twinge of sadness. But the fairy didn’t leave. Jinki woke up the next morning to the small thing barely an inch from his face, staring at him and smiling, wings fluttering. Jinki smiled back, and the fairy flew closer, laying a light feather kiss on the tip of Jinki’s nose.“Good morning to you too. Hungry?”The fairy nodded, beaming, flying after Jinki into the kitchen. That entire day Jinki was constantly peppered with butterfly kisses on his forehead, cheeks, and nose. Jinki always swatted at him playfully, but did enjoy the attention. The fairy was surprisingly fast on his newly healed wings, zipping around Jinki's head, giggling. Jinki kept ducking and moving, laughing with him.The fairy flew at him–Jinki ducked, but not far enough, feeling the soft touch of a fairy kiss on his bottom lip. The surprise Jinki felt was reflected on the fairy's small features, eyes wide, a pink color radiating from his face. At first Jinki thought the pink was embarrassment, but it spread to the fairy's entire body, glowing brighter and brighter. Jinki's concern grew as the fairy's eyes fluttered closed, floating high in the air without the assistance of his wings. The light grew in brightness and intensity, Jinki having to divert his eyes. There was one final flash, and the light stopped. Tentatively, Jinki looked where the fairy had been. There was a young man, naked, standing in his living room. "Ah!" They both shouted at each other, Jinki turning away and covering his face. "I'm sorry." The man said quickly. Jinki walked to his dresser, keeping his eyes averted, and pulled out some of his clothes, handing them to the man."Thank you very much."The man's voice was soft and impossibly familiar, Jinki realized it had a slight chime to it, almost like a bell. When the man said "I'm dressed now," and Jinki turned around, his suspicions were confirmed. This man was his fairy. He had the same face shape, eyes, and long hair-the only thing missing were his wings. "My name is Lee Taemin." He spoke hesitantly. "You broke the curse on me-thank you very much.""Curse?" Jinki asked. "It was placed on me by my mother. She's a witch." Taemin explained. "As in, she's not a very nice person, or...?""Jinki, you just saw a man that was a fairy turn back into a man, and you're questioning the existence of witches?" he laughed, the sound pure as a bell chime. Jinki considered the statement before nodding. "I guess you're not really welcome back home then.""Not really." Taemin plucked at the shirt he was wearing. "If I have to go, can I keep these clothes? I don't have any."If I have to go. Taemin wanted to stay. "Well, you could...live here." Jinki answered hesitantly. "If you want." After hearing Taemin talk and laugh, he knew that the young man and the fairy were one and the same, and he was equally attached to them both. At his answer, Taemin's face lit up and he nodded vigorously. "I would love that.""I don't know what we'll do about bedrooms, I don't have a second bed..." Jinki trailed off, looking around. The fairy usually slept on his pillow, next to his head. "I figured we could keep sharing." Taemin said simply. Oh. Jinki blinked a few times. "Yeah. Okay. That will work."Taemin all but jumped on him, enveloping Jinki into a tight hug. He placed a light, gentle kiss on Jinki's cheek. "Thank you for finding me."
