Are you okay ? " a boy around her age asked worriedly.The girl nodded as she gave him a small smile." Hey, apologised ! " he barked at the group of boys who were standing there.They pushed her." Uhhh. Look at that. The fatso protecting the ugly. How perfect " one of the guy from the group spoke out, snorted slightly. His friend started laughing." You push her so apologised. Especially you, Shen " the boy earlier said sternly as he stand and faced them.The group of boys stopped laughing. The boy named Shen , step forward facing the boy." What are you gonna do, if we dont huh ? " Shen poked his chest , provoking him.He grabbed Shens collar " You are gonna regret it if you dont " Shens panicked. He didnt expect this boy gonna get mad like this. " I will not apologised  " Shen said arrogantly still not give in.The boy hold up his fist when the girl earlier hold his arm " Gege. Dont do it "" Wu YiFan. Min Shen stop right now ! " All of them turned their head toward the voice.Miss Lee. Their teacher." Shit " Shen cursed. The boy who was known as Wu YiFan released his grip on Shens collar and put down his fist."My office. NOW ! " The teacher shouted as she stomped away angrily.Shen grunted as he followed the teacher.YiFan turned to the girl and smile " Ill be okay. Wu YiFan was punished to clean the field along with Shen but that boy already fled off when schools end. The girl earlier came to help him." They pushed you " He answered calmly." Whats new. They always do that "" Thats why. I dont want they do that to you anymore " he said.The girl , Li Mei Ling smiled. She and Wu Yifan had been friend since their kindergarden year. She is a Korean but had been living in China since she was born. She first met him when she enroll in the same kindergarden with him. All the students bullied her and isolated her just because her nationality was different from them. The only one who approached her was Wu YiFan. He was a cute chubby boy and has gummy smile. He talked to her first and they started being friend since then. Now they were already in their elementary school. He always stand beside her whenever someone bullied her. But he never stand up for her like that before, almost punching the bullies." But still. Using violence is wrong, Gege " she started as she sat on the grass as soon as they finished with their task." Im your Gege so I should start acting like one and protect you ! " YiFan take his seat beside her." You sound like a man , Gege " she laughed." Im a man ! " he boasted." You are only 8 years old ! " she laughed. She always laughed whenever she saw his gum. YiFan frowned. " Hey. Its not nice laughing like that. You have it too ! "Mei Ling stop laughing. Well its true. Her gum also visible whenever she laughed or smile. The student also call them The Gummy Couple beside their famous nickname Fatso and Ugly Couple since they always stick together. Yes, she doesnt have any friend beside him and vice versa.She pouted " I hate it. Its ugly "" What ugly ?" YiFan asked." This " she make a smile face and show him her gums.He laughed sofly. " Its not ugly. I think its cute "Mei Ling blushed. She never told him but she had crush on this chubby boy since 2 years ago." You are just flattering me, Gege. I know the truth " she pouted.He pinched her cheeks making the latter yelped " Ouch. Thats hurt, Gege ! "" Im not flattering you. Im just saying the truth. Stop saying that or Im gonna pinched that chubby cheeks of your again ! " he chuckled" Hey. Whos the chubby here " Mei Ling covered her mouth as those words come out from her mouth. She know YiFan dont like people called him chubby. She turned toward him and laughed nervously " Haha. Look at the time. Gotta go ! " she brushed the grass on her dress and turned on her heels , walked away from the boy." Li Mei Ling !! " YiFan shouted. Mei Ling started running as she sure YiFan was running after her. She looked behind and laughed out loud as her guess was right." Come and and catch me, YiFan ! " They laughed as they played around the field.This is happiness.Thats what they thought._________________________  " Mei. I have something to tell you " YiFan started as he sat beside her on the school bench. It was recess, so they went out of the class to have their meals." What is it, Gege " she asked as she took a bite of the burger. She noticed her friend was acting strange since that morning cause he barely talked to her." Im.......... Im transfering " he said sadly.Mei Ling dropped her burger on the ground." W- what ?" she asked again. She heard wrong right ? " Im transfering , Mei " he sighed as he finally told her. He was throwing a tantrum at first when his mother said he was going to transfer to another school because his father got jobs tranfered but he cant do anything about it."....... Then I will transfer with you " Mei Ling said after a long silence.YiFan shook his head. " You cant. Its far from here "" How far ? We will still see each other right ?" she asked, her eyes were brimming with tears."Its Korea. My father got a job tranfer there. Yes. We will met again Mei, I promise " Korea  she thought , that far ?" In the end you left me too " Mei Ling cried as  tears escaped her eyes.YiFan eyes started to water. He hated seeing her cried. He dont want to leave her too." Dont cry Mei. I wouldnt leave you, it just that Im not going to be by your side like always. But I will always stay here " he pointed at her heart.Mei Ling started sobbing uncontrollably.He let her cried a few minutes as he watched her. It saddened him when he see Mei cried because of him." When are you going ? " she asked between her hiccup." Next week " he answered, sighing.Mei Ling snapped her head towards YiFans. " That fast ?" YiFan nooded meekly.They sat in silence, Mei Ling was staring down at her laps, while YiFan stared ahead, blank.They went to their class when the recess end. No words came out from both of them after that.The school end, all the student started packing up their stuff and went home." YiFan " Mei Ling started as they were the last student in the class.".......... Please dont forget me " Mei Ling said as she feel her tears welled in her eyes again.YiFan smiled weakly, as he patted her head. " Never. I will never forget you Mei " She cried all the way back home together.The rest of the week went by in a blink. Its YiFans last school day.The others student didnt really care when they knew he were tranfering. One fatso boy is gone thats what they thought. Theres only one who cried at his departured.His friend, best friend.Li Mei Ling." Take care ofyourself there. Dont forget to write letter to me " Mei Ling said for the umpteenth time.YiFan smiled, showing his gum " Yes, Mei "Mei Ling started to feel her tears again. I cant see his gummy smile anymore after this.She thought bitterly but put up a tough front. She cant cried like child anymore on her friends last day." Im gonna miss you, Gege " she said sincerely.YiFans eyes softened. " Im gonna miss you to, Mei "They sat in silence." Here, keep this " YiFans broke the silence as he handed her something.It was a necklace. A simple necklace. The chain was black  and the locket was a small piece of wood that was polished well and had Y F carved on it.It was his charm.She looked at him, confused " Are you sure? " " Yes , Mei. Keep this for me till we met again. And whenever you see this you will remember that I will always be with you "Mei Ling looked up and smiled.She gave him a pecked on his cheeks" Thanks "YiFan blushed but smiled afterward.    That was the last time Mei Ling see him.  They keep on writing letters to each other for a few months. After the 5th month since he went to the Korea, the letter from him stop coming.Mei Ling assured herself.Hes busy. He will not forget me. He promisedMonth after month passed but still there were no letters coming from him anymore.She still sent him, her letter though.The school was tough for her since she lost her place to depend on anymore.The bullies got worse. The peoples started making new names for her. They even said, the fatso leave her and dont want to be her friend anymore.She cried to herself, clutching on his necklace.Where are you, YiFan ?   A year and a half passed. She graduated her elemantary school. She had stop writing him letter. She thought they were no point to do that anymore. He forgot her already. He dont want to be her friend anymore, just like everyone else.She stared at her own reflection on the mirror. No smile or laughter anymore . Thats what she gonna be from now on ; expressionless She gonna changed herself and wont let peoples bullies her anymore. She looked at the her necklace, his necklace one last time before she keep it in a small box.  She cut her hair short and started her middle school as a new person. As an expressionless girl. She avoided all the peoples and the students didnt dare to go near her nor bullies her anymore. She got a new nickname though.Ice Prince Suited with her appearance , boyish cut and cold attitude.She spends all her middle school life , alone.Three years passed and once again she become a school graduated.   " Min Young. Guess what ! " her eomma said excitedly. Min Young is her Korean name. Only her family called her that." What ? " she asked, uninterested while flipping the Tvs channel." We are going back to Korea !! " That caught her off guard.Korea" Your Appas boss finally approved of him transfering to Korea. Isnt that great ? We are gonna move to Korea permanently !! " her eomma cheeredShe never thought once in her life that she gonna move back to her homeland, since she had been living here since she was born.Korea. That means, Wu YiFan. There will be chances that they are  gonna met. Eventhough she doubt that and it was impossible since she know how big Korea.She thought about it for a while.How he had been doing ? She caught herself thinking about that sometimes but she just brushed it off. But now, they are going to live on the same land again. She cant helped but thought about him again.She never hated him. Eversince he went to the Korea until now, she never hated him eventhough he never contact her anymore.She cant bring herself to hated him but decided to just forget about him instead cause she thought maybe he already forget her. So she should be doing the same.  But now she started to having mixed feeling   Wu YiFan , will we met again ?      This story is purely my imagination, any similarity to drama or any other story are coincidental.
