There was definitely something about the original story that caught my attention. I thought it was kind of beautiful somehow. The cigarettes, even though Im not a smoker myself, just seemed so perfect in the original. When I read it I couldnt help but think about what more might have been going on for Taisuke, or from his point of view. It was my first time writing about him, so hopefully it came out well. I really love the original, and I think so much more could have been said, but Ill leave it at this.
