It took me a moment for it to soak in. "H-how long are you staying there?" I asked her as a stream of tear fell down my face. "Just until I finished high school." she said quietly as she wiped away my tear. We spent the last days together laughing and, sometimes, crying. On the last day, she promised shed come back. She told me she would and sealed it with a kiss, but she lied. (6 months later) -ring ring-I got up from my bed and rubbed my eyes lazily as I picked up my phone. Answering it without checking the calling ID, "Hello?" "Amber.. its Jessica, I wanted to tell you.. that, " she paused and sniffles, sounded like she was crying. I furrowed my eyebrows as she cried. "I wanted to tell you that.. Soojung.. " she paused once again and broke down, "sh-she passed away." with just that, everything around me felt like it shattered just like my heart. I felt a lump in my throat just as if my hearts up there. I tried to swallow but choked up tears. I broke everything in my room out of anger as to why I couldnt have done anything. After trashing everything I laid down on my bed. Reenacting what Jessica told me, "a drunk driver hit her.. when she was walking home from school." I stared blankly at the ceiling wondering what I would do with my life as I laid there lifelessly while slowly closing my eyes. Sleeping it away hoping itd be just a terrible nightmare.
