A girl with long brown curls and a fluffy pink dress danced around the park and sang the melody of a song she had learned at school as she held a heart shaped box in one hand and a brown Teddy bear in the other. She came to a stop in front of a bench with was pre occupied by a boy which was sitting crouched while holding his dark hair in his skinny hands. He was wearing a black T-shirt and a pair of jeans which happened to be oversized as well. “Excuse me.” The girl said. “You’re seating at my favorite place.” The boy seemed startled as he raised is head to look at her. He had a pretty face. Deep brown eyes, his face was covered with tears. He quickly shifted in his seat to cover his face and spoke carefully incase his voice cracked. “So?” the girl ignored his question and sat beside him. “Why are you so sad?” “Why do you care?” he said bitterly. “That is not a very nice thing to say.” “Why are you being nice to me, then?” he asked with a hint of annoyance. “Mommy said if you be nice to people, you’ll get something nice in return.” He kept studying her as she spoke with a wide grin plastered across her face. “I hate Valentine’s day.” “oh… Is that why you were crying?” “I was not crying” “yes you were.” “wasn’t” “was” “was not.” “was. I saw you.” He crossed his arms, then his eyes darted to the Teddy bear and box she was holding. He eyed them hungrily. “Daddy gave these to me for valentine’s day, he gave them to mommy too.” She spoke excitedly. “what did your daddy get you?” “nothing.” He mumbled. “oh…” she looked shocked at first, but then pursed her lips as she thought of an idea. “Here. I’ll give them to you.” She pushed her hands towards him. He looked at her hesitantly. “don’t worry, I have a sally bear at home and lots of chocolates.” She shoved the toy and box into his hands. “This will mean you have gotten something for valentine’s day, so you don’t have to hate it anymore.” She bounced excitedly. He looked at her with an open mouth at first but then smiled. “Lia, Lia honey where are you?” said a panicked voice. The girl glanced towards where the voice came from. “That’s my mommy, maybe we can ask her to let us play by the pond?” she turned back around to where he sat, but he was gone. But in his seat lay a chain he was wearing with a beautiful green rock hanging from it.
