It was a sure statement, but then again, he was always filled with sure statements. For as long as I can remember he was always so certain in everything he did and everything he had said."Why?" I remember being so angry at him for saying that. I was young at that time, we both were. And the concept just seemed so impossible to me that this boy, who was my best friend, my closest friend ever, didnt understand the fact that summer cant possibly end. Because didnt want it too and that was all that mattered at that time."Because everything has an end. Nothing is forever, Eun Mi. Summer has an end, Winter has an end. Sometimes it rains sometimes it snows. Nothing is forever."I didnt talk to him for an entire day, after that. I was just so mad at him, how could he say that? Being a child, I felt betrayed and abandoned.But I never felt it stronger than now, as he tells me those exact words again. But now a lot of things are different. Were much older, changed through the years, still young but old enough to know, still new to the world but old enough to feel, eyes just opened but old enough to see.And hearts still raw but old enough to break."But why?" I ask. I feel the tears fall, but barely see them. I see the snow shower on us, but barely feel it. And most of all Im scared, scared of the cold, expressionless look on his face and the low, emotionless tone of his voice."Nothing is forever." His voice doesnt go above a whisper.And he leaves me. The snow showers and he leaves me. The truth is out and he leaves me.
