A/N: Bear with me on this chapter, I know it's quite sudden. And maybe even frustrating. Do you guys remember a few mentions in some chapters of a promise Donghae made to Siwon & Eunhyuk's parents? Well this is where you'll find out what happened. Sorry if it's confusing. Donghae paced the room. He had no idea what to do. His otherwise peaceful morning with Eunhyuk changed the moment he got that phone call. It was from their parents. As in, Siwon and Eunhyuk's parents. He tried to act as normal as he could, not wanting Eunhyuk to know who he was talking to. When Eunhyuk asked him about it, he simply said it was an old friend. But he knew he couldn't hide it from him or Siwon much longer. He had to tell them, about everything. He heard a knock on the door. He froze. Eunhyuk stuck his head in, " What are you doing that's taking so long? You said we were going to the park, remember?" Donghae stuttered, "O-oh, right. Let's go then." When they were out of the house, Eunhyuk questioned him."Is something wrong? You've been acting all weird since that call." Donghae stopped walking, thinking, but then continued. "It's nothing. I'll tell you later, okay?" Eunhyuk wanted to question him further, but he didn't. He knew Donghae would tell him if he wanted to, there was no use in pressing him about it. "Okay." Pointing at the huge tree nearby, he grinned, "Let's sit there, Hae."And so they settled under the shade, Eunhyuk lying on Donghae's lap, Donghae sitting with his back to the tree. "How long have your parents... been away?" Donghae knew the answer even if Eunhyuk didn't reply, of course. But he needed some way to ease into the topic. "They've been gone since as long as I can remember. Siwon says they left when I was 6."Donghae rested his arm across Eunhyuk's chest. "Do you miss them?" Eunhyuk shrugged. "Honestly? No. I miss the idea of having parents, though. I barely remember them to have anything to miss them by. The only reason I know how they look like is because of the pictures my brother showed me." Donghae nodded, patting him gently now."It's strange, though. I would have thought that at 6 years old I would have some sort of recollection of them, but I don't. Siwon says they rarely spent time with us, so maybe that's why. It's the same for him, too." He shrugged again. "But I don't really feel bothered by any of it. Why the sudden questions, anyway?" Donghae shook his head, "Nothing, just curious. You didn't tell me much about your parents.""Well, now you know why. They left us so long ago, sending us the occasional postcard and of course, money. There's not much to say, really." Donghae ran his fingers through Eunhyuk's hair, a slight look of pity lingering on his face. Eunhyuk thought it to be weird, but brushed it away. Donghae looked away, and they started to talk about other things. In the back of Eunhyuk's mind, he knew something was not right. Something had happened. But he figured he would find out eventually. For now, he just wanted to spend proper, quality time with Donghae. He found himself grateful for the quietness of the park, no one came here during mornings and nights. It was one of the reasons they liked to. For privacy."Hyuk, I love you." Eunhyuk grinned. No matter how many times Donghae said that to him, the feeling he got from it never changed. "I love you, too." Donghae smiled. "I'm always here for you. You know that, right?" Eunhyuk nodded, smiling. "You can always count on me, forever, Hyuk." He smiled a smile that reached his eyes, and Donghae felt comforted for what he would have to face soon. They returned to the house, greeted by a sleepy-eyed Siwon. "I mede mreakfwast." Eunhyuk laughed at his brother. "Chew and swallow, before you talk, hyung." They sat around the table, eating the slightly burnt but still edible pancakes Siwon had made. Donghae thought to himself. I will tell them. But not now, after breakfast, maybe.Eunhyuk poured a generous amount of maple syrup on his pancakes, stuffing them into his mouth, leaving a bit on the corner of his mouth. Smiling, Donghae wiped it off for him. Siwon watched this all. "Alright alright not in front of me!" The pair chuckled, bowing playfully in apology. The moment they finished eating, however, Donghae felt the nervousness creep back in.He gathered all the courage he could muster. "Hey guys? I need to talk to you about something. It's important." The brothers looked at him, curious. But before they could say anything, Donghae continued. "I'll be in my room, just come up when you're done with the dishes." Siwon turned to Eunhyuk whispering, "What happened?"Eunhyuk shrugged, he didn't know either. They headed upstairs when they finished in the kitchen, joining Donghae, sitting cross legged on the floor. "What's up?" Donghae cleared his throat, before beginning. "I don't really know how to tell you guys this, but I'm going to try my best. Just let me tell you everything before you guys... ask about anything. Okay?"~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Donghae played with his fingers, looking down at them. "It's about your parents." He didn't need to look up. He knew for a fact, that Siwon would be sitting ramrod straight now, his body tense. Eunhyuk would be confused, his lower lip red from biting down on it. Donghae wanted to stop, say everything was a joke, but he couldn't. He had to tell them."What about them?" As the elder one, Siwon spoke up first. "There's something I've never told the both of you, but I have to, now. Especially since your parents are coming back next week." Their eyes widened. "What? They didn't tell us anything!" Donghae cringed at the loudness of Siwon's voice. Eunhyuk however, remained quiet."Why would they tell you before they tell us? Wait. How is it they even have your number?" Donghae sighed. This is where it gets hard to explain. "Don't you guys ever wonder why you don't have many memories of your parents? Just a few, random scenes of you four, but other than that, nothing." They nodded."The four of you were involved in a car accident, when Eunhyuk was five. So Siwon, you were six." At this point they couldn't help but interrupt, even Eunhyuk. "W-wouldn't we have memories of it?" Siwon nodded in agreement, but Donghae shook his head, "You don't understand. Let me finish, please." They kept quiet.Taking this as his cue, he continued. "The both of you were sitting at the back seat, and you suffered injuries to the head. When you woke up, the both of you had lost your memories. Your parents, they were so upset. But the doctors said it was a miracle for the both of you to even survive, considering how serious the injuries seemed."Eunhyuk shook his head slowly, not wanting to believe any of this this. Siwon's lips pressed together firmly to form a thin line. "I visited you, Siwon, at the hospital. I never met you Hyuk, since the both of you were put in different rooms. When Siwon woke up, he refused to acknowledge you as his brother, he couldn't remember you, he went... crazy. So you were seperated, placed in a different room. That's the bit your parents only told me this morning."Donghae paused, looking up at them both. He took a deep breath. "Remember I was only five, too. It was scary, my own friend didn't recognize me. I cried, and that was when both your parents asked to see me. They were in better condition than both of you, thanks to the airbag. They told me to take care of Siwon, that it was my job."When Donghae didn't say anything more, Siwon looked up, his eyes filled with an emotion Donghae couldn't quite identify. "Then why did they leave us? Why is it we can't remember being in the hospital, after the accident?" Eunhyuk mumbled something under his breath repeatedly, something Donghae couldn't catch. He ignored it for now, answering Siwon."I don't know. A few weeks after the accident, Siwon, you suddenly went back to normal. You regained some of your memories from before, almost everything but the accident. You even remembered your parents, Hyuk, me. The doctors said the stress from being thrown into a foreign place with people you supposedly knew but couldn't remember, it made your mind block out the confusion and hurt from that.""As for Hyuk, I don't quite know. Like I said before, I didn't even know you had a brother until a few months ago. Your parents never mentioned him to me, I never saw him either. He went through the same thing you did, so the same thing might have happened to him too. Plus, he was still young. As for why your parents left..." In the silence that followed, Donghae suddenly made out what Eunhyuk was saying. I remember. I remember. I remember."Hyuk, what do you remember?" Siwon turned to his brother now, desperate for answers. "It was all my fault... I caused this all." Donghae closed his eyes. This was exactly why he hadn't wanted to tell them about this. Siwon gripped onto Eunhyuk's arm, shaking him now. "What was your fault? What are you talking about Hyuk?"He lifted his head slowly, tears filling his eyes. "I was playing, in the back seat. I distracted them. They both asked me to stop, but I didn't listen. I started fiddling with my father's spectacles, then... then it happened. Hae, am I right?" Donghae managed a nod, despite himself. Although it was the last thing he wanted to do right now, he still had to tell them everything."Your parents. They left because they didn't know how to face the both of you, they felt guilty. They tried to live a normal life with the two of you when you were all discharged, but neither of you recognized them. They didn't know what to do, their own sons didn't know them. They were hopeful when Siwon finally regained a bit of his memory, but Hyuk was still... So they spun a lie, got an aunt to take care of you two, and left.""By the time they were ready to return they realised the two of you didn't need them anymore, they weren't part of your lives. Too many questions to answer, too much pain the two of you would have to face. So they stayed away, until recently. They'll be back next week." Finally Eunhyuk broke down, his legs pulled against his chest, his body shaking from the tears.Siwon just looked angry. He was frustrated that he couldn't remember any of this, annoyed that his parents and his very own best friend had kept this from him for so many years. On a normal day, Siwon would have hugged Eunhyuk, comforted him. But this was not a normal day, he was a victim in this too. He stood up, and left. Donghae heard the sound of a door slamming soon after, and he knew Siwon had locked himself in his room.Sighing, Donghae moved closer to Eunhyuk, letting him cry against him. He felt the wetness of his tears even through his shirt, and he hugged him tightly. He wanted to say something, something that would help Eunhyuk cope with all the confusion and guilt he must be feeling. But he couldn't, he came to a blank. He wondered if Eunhyuk remembered the accident all along or if he only just recalled. Those were questions he could ask when they had all calmed down. He knew he had to go to Siwon, too. But for now, he tried his best to bring some sort of comfort to his boyfriend, patting his back slowly, whispering soothing words into his ear. "Shhhh, it's okay. It's okay..." Okay so I bet some of you are confused with this whole thing, let me explain it clearly to you. Basically they got into a car accident when they were young. It happened because Eunhyuk was playing, and he tried to take off his dad's specs, so he ended up being unable to see and they crashed. Siwon and Eunhyuk both lost their memories because of it, as they suffered from head injuries. Their parents were mostly okay, the air bag had saved them, in a way. The two brothers were put in the same room, and Siwon woke up first. Their parents realised he had lost his memory, and tried explaining everything to him.Siwon was overwhelmed and refused to accept anything, and he went nuts basically. He insisted that Eunhyuk be placed in another room, he didn't want to share a room with a 'stranger'. To calm him down they had no choice, so Eunhyuk was moved to a different room, which is why Donghae didn't know of Eunhyuk's existence back then. Since Donghae was Siwon's friend, their parents didn't ask Donghae to take care of Eunhyuk, didn't mention him to Donghae either, which would further explain why Donghae was clueless about Eunhyuk. Then, Eunhyuk woke up too and couldn't remember anything either, and he became the withdrawn kid that he used to be in the earlier chapters, scared by everything that had happened. When all of them recovered from their injuries they got discharged, and they all went back home. But their parents couldn't handle it because when they looked at their sons all they felt was guilt, add on the fact that their own sons didn't recognize them and so they decided to leave the country.Siwon gained back a bit of his memories but forgot instead, everything about the accident. So his parents decided to not tell him about the accident in the end. As for Eunhyuk, he can't remember the accident because he was only five years old then, and also because same like Siwon, it was a painful and confusing experience for someone so young, so he sort of 'chose' to forget it. So they left them under the care of an aunt until they were old enough to take care of themselves and live alone. Why they want to come back now, after so long, that will be explained in the next chapter. So, how was it? Personally I feel it's too much to jam into one chapter but I really really needed to get this out first. Sorry for any confusion, you can ask if you have any more questions!
