Winter 2013“He’s an idol,” was what Sooyoung had to constantly remind herself, when she caught herself staring dreamily at him, or when her heart started pounding every time he made his way towards her desk.“He’s an idol,” she told herself to bring her back from any wishful thinking. From thinking of any possibility that she could be with him.“He’s an idol,” she said when her friends and his friends complained for the umpteenth time on how he wasn’t able to join them on their camping trip that weekend. It would have been nice, she thought, if Junhong could have been able to join them, but it was near impossible, as he was simply too busy being an idol and all to hang with his classmates.Sooyoung, herself was beginning find it hard to find time to hang out with her friends as well.  Training was taking more and more of her time and she had heard rumors of a new girl group that Lee Sooman was planning on debuting. Tension was growing among the girl trainees, and everyone was practicing extra hard in hopes of being pick for the rumored girl group. However, it was winter after all and the company did allow their trainees a few days off once in a while, so naturally when her friends invited her to go camping with them, she agreed. It was good to have some fun once in a while and she figured it would do her some good to get her mind off of the rumored girl group.“He’s an idol,” she had to tell herself, to keep her from being disappointed when he said he couldn’t make it to the camping trip their classmates were planning.  “Aww…why?” She had pouted when she heard his answer. “You know, idol work,” he pointed to his hair, showcasing his white blond hair, and then copied her pout, “but I would have loved to go camping with you guys.” She gently smacked his arm, “Yah, don’t copy me.” “Wah? I wasn’t, I’m genuinely sad that I won’t be able to go. Camping’s fun you know.” Deciding to drop the topic her gaze went back to the bleach blond hair on his head. “They really like to kill your hair don’t they?” Just last week, his hair had been a type of pink. It would seemed that every comeback B.A.P had, Junhong always got the different color hairstyle, whether it was blond, purple, gray, pink, you name it Junhong had it.  “You don’t like it?” He asked playing around with his hair. “Hmm…no it’s nice. Blond suits you.” She stated. He was blond when she had first laid eyes on him. The memory of a tall, blond Junhong running in late to class, bowing, and them smiling up at the class remained in her mind. It was a scene she often replayed when she was lying in her bed. It made her heart fluttered. “Are you sure you can’t make it? Just even for a short while?” She asked again. Somehow she had been tasked with asking Junhong and before she left to find him, they had told her she wasn’t allowed to come back if she couldn’t get him to come. Now she wondered why she had accepted, when one couldn’t possibly change an idol’s schedule. “Do you really want me to come that bad?” She was taken aback by his comment. She did really want him to come, but she wasn’t about to tell him that. “Ha. Not just me, but they all want you to come.” “Serious though, what did you do to them? They all love you so much.” She jokingly asked as if she wasn’t in love with him as well. “Let’s just say I have the charm,” he said before giving her a wink and if he wasn’t standing in front of her now, Sooyoung would have fainted from a heart attack.  The campsite wasn’t too far from the city and it was quite popular among high school students, college students and many families also went there as well. Sooyoung had been watching a group of children at the campsite beside theirs when Miyoung sat down beside her.“It’s a shame Junhong wasn’t able to come today.” Miyoung stated as she placed her hands inside her coat pocket.“Yeah,” was all Sooyoung could say, the group of friends had already expressed their disappointment on the absence of their beloved idol classmate and she was beginning to wonder if they were doing this on purpose to her. She was just as disappointed if not more. “You should have told him that you really wanted him here. I’m sure if you did he would had made something up,” she said.   “It wouldn’t have matter. He has idol stuffs going on.” It wouldn’t matter, because Sooyoung was merely a classmate, a friend, a fan, and someone who Junhong would forget when they graduated.“No. Junhong seems to be fond of you.”“Well, I mean it is me, it isn’t too hard to be fond of me.” Sooyoung joked, earning a playful nudge from the girl.“Yah, when did you get so full of yourself?”Sooyoung was nowhere full of herself, but through her time at SOPA she had learned to become confident in who she was. She was no longer the shy, quite transfer girl who only knew how to smile when talked too. “We have to tell him, maybe that’ll make him try harder to come.” Miyoung said as she got up and ran towards the others who were trying to start a campfire, leaving a confused Sooyoung by herself. She watched as Miyoung said something, pulled out her phone and starting typing. It was best to ignore their teasing. As much as they teased, she knew nothing would ever come out of it. Junhong was an idol, a young one at that and many idols had a dating restriction and besides, who was Sooyoung anyway. She was nothing more than a wannabe idol who may or may not debut. If Junhong was to start dating someone, it would definitely be another idol or at least another celebrity. She wondered if Junhong knew Hayoung from APink. She was the same age as them and an idol, plus she was really friendly and pretty.Sooyoung sighed. She had been doing so well in just getting to know Junhong, so well in being an adoring fan, a good classmate and a socially acceptable friend, but the more time she spent with him or rather around him, the more she was becoming aware of her growing feelings for him.At first she had brushed them aside, fully aware that she was probably still star stricken, but now with it being more than a year and the fact that the mere mention of his name sent a warm feeling through her, she knew she was in trouble. She wondered what he thought of her. Was he the least bit interested in her? He had to be right? Or he wouldn’t have followed her that day. Surely he wasn’t that curious to wait four hours, there had to be something else right? The sun had set and Sooyoung had joined the group around the campfire.“Yah, we forgot the forks and spoons!”“Someone needs to go and buy some.”"There's a convenient store located oustide the campsite." Spotting the little convenient store located on the outer edge of the camp ground she entered the brightly lit building and looked for the silverware. Finding what she needed, she quickly purchased the items made her way out when she saw a familiar figure staring at their phone.“Aish, why is there no signal here?”“Junhong?”“Sooyoung!”♥♥♥♥♥Boy was he glad to see her when he turned around. It would have been awful if he had to walk around the whole campsite trying to find them. He should have texted someone in the first place, but he had wanted to surprise them or her to be exact. He didn’t expect her to be the first person he’d. Was it fate?Junhong had been bummed when he learned that his friends were all going camping. Bummed because he wasn’t able to go with them. The pout Sooyoung put on when he told her he couldn’t make it was enough to make him risk forgoing the event, but he knew he had a duty as an idol. It wouldn’t look good on his character and it would definitely make B.A.P look bad.“Didn’t you have idol duties?” She asked after handing him the plastic bag which he had offered to carry for her.“I did, but it fortunately got canceled at the last minute.”“Fortunately? Don’t you mean unfortunately?” She laughed and Junhong realized what he had said, but laughed along with her. Her laugh was infectious and he could always distnguish it amongst the other laughers during class. It never failed to make him want to laugh along with her even when he had no idea what she was laughing at.“Did Miyoung text you? Is that why you’re here?” The two of them were making their way back to the campsite with Sooyoung leading the way.Miyoung did text him, but that wasn’t why he had rushed to the campsite after begging his manager when the event was canceled. He thought for a bit, contemplating if he should tell her.“Miyoung sent me a picture of a sad looking girl and said that the only way she’d be happy was if I came.”“Really? I bet she’ll be happy when she sees you then.” She replied looking straight ahead and he wondered if she knew the picture Miyoung had sent was of her.He was surprised when he saw a picture of her sitting by herself looking sad as she stared off into the distance with the caption “She’s sad because you’re not here. Come cheer her up!” He had laughed because he knew Miyoung had probably captured the picture without Sooyoung knowing it.  “I hope so. She should know I had to beg really hard to come here. My members thought I was crazy.”“She’ll be really happy when she hears that too.”Junhong wanted her to ask who the picture was of, but if he knew anything about Sooyoung, he knew she would never straight up ask even if she was dying to know.Sighing, he decided to change the topic, “how’s training going for you? I feel like we barely see each other nowadays.”“Training’s good,” she answered but he wasn’t convinced, something in the way she said it sounded as if she was trying to convince herself that training was going well.“It’s your fault, you’re always too busy with idol life.” She gave him a playful angry look and he raised his hands along with the plastic bag up as an apology.“Sorry. I’ll make it up to you, but idol life is seriously no joke. If you think training is hard, wait till you debut.”“Yeah, debuting,” she muttered as she stopped walking, her eyes had lost its gleam and he noticed how she had suddenly become tense at the mention of debuting.“Sooyoung?”“It’s hard Junhong.” She said as she dropped down to her knees and hugged them without warning.“What’s hard Sooyoung?” The atmosphere had gotten tense and for the first time, Junhong saw just how tired she looked.“I don’t think I can do it anymore.” He saw her bring her the back of hand and laid them across her eyes as a trickle of tears rolled down her cheeks.“I know a training is nothing like being an idol and I feel bad complaining like this when you’re suffering so much more, but it’s really hard.”“I don’t see how you do it. You’re always smiling, even if you’re tired you still smile. I don’t think I’m cut up for the idol life, if I can’t even handle being a trainee.”He heard the soft muffles of her cries. He wasn’t sure what to do. He had never had to comfort a crying girl before, so he did the only thing he could think off and squatted down beside her. Reaching out his hand, he stroked her head. Thinking back on it, he should have pulled her in to a hug, but he was young and stupid at the time.As he awkwardly patted her head he heard her laugh through her tears.“Yah, why are you patting my head?”Junhong shrugged, “you’re crying.”It didn’t take long for Sooyoung to stop crying and in Sooyoung fashion she flashed him a smile, “you can stop patting my head now.”  “Oh, right.” He embarrassingly pulled his hand away from the top of her head.“Sorry about that, but it feels good to finally be able to tell someone. I can’t complain to my parents because they didn’t really want me to become a singer in the first place, they’re supportive, but you know how parents are and I can’t tell the other trainee girls because they’ll see me as weak and word might get out about how I’m already giving up and then my chances of debuting will really be slim.”“You know, I’m always here if you ever need to talk to anyone ever again.  I may not always be physically present, but you have my number so if you want you can always call or text me. But I might not be able to talk right away, but if I see it, I’ll definitely reply as soon as possible.” He saw her smile and he was glad because quite frankly he liked it when Sooyoung smiled and a smiling Sooyoung was a lot better than a crying Sooyoung.  A crying Sooyoung made him feel helpless.“I mean it Sooyoung, I’m always here for you,” he reassured her and her smile grew even brighter.  “I know,” she replied, but did she? Junhong thought he was being too bold, but everything he was saying was coming from the bottom of his heart. He really wanted to be there for Sooyoung. Never in his life had he ever felt this way towards a girl and even if nothing was ever going to happen between them he wanted to always see her smile.“Yo, Sooyoung what took you so lon- JUNHONG? JUNHONG’S HERE!” A classmate shouted when he saw the two of them.“Sorry I took so long, but I brought Junhong back with me,” she said as she took the plastic bag from him and ran towards the fire, leaving him to fend off the swarm of friends surrounding him.“Junhong, come try some.” He heard her shout and he knew it was worth getting down on his knees to come camping.<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>So I know I said this chapter was supposed to be filled with cute moments....it was originally supposed to have gone that way, but I don't know what happened...lol I don't think I'm very good at writing cute moments....Do you guys think they're progressing with their relationship?
