Chapter 14 (1/1)

“You’re so gorgeous!” Jieun cried dramatically as she stood back and admired her work.“Why are you so insistent about this?” I complained as she reached forward and ruffled my hair slightly.“I wanna see his jaw drop when he sees how I transformed you. He’ll be STUNNED.”I pursed my lips and looked down at ensemble she had placed me in. I was wearing black tights under a short black skirt, with a dark blue flowing top that fell just right on my chest, a necklace Jieun had given me that fell right at my cleavage. She’d done my makeup more than usual, with full blown contour and blush, eye shadow, and lipstick. At least she let me still wear my converse.“I don’t understand you.” I deadpanned as she giggled happily.“Boys like it when girls are pretty.” She stated with a firm nod of her head.“Are you saying I’m not pretty in my normal attire?” I shot back as I furrowed my eyebrows.“Don’t put words in my mouth and make me sound mean.” She pouted in response before holding a mirror in front of my face.“Look! You can’t argue with this.”Alright, I had to admit, I let her do this because I didn’t mind being dressed up. And I was kind of curious to see if he’d get flustered at the new look. I’ll admit, she did a pretty good job. With a final scrutiny of my outfit, Jieun grabbed my arm and dragged me out the door toward our neighbors.Tae and Jimin came out at the same time, and both froze as they spotted us.“Holy shit, noona!” Jimin shouted after a few beats of silence, running up and throwing his arm around my shoulder haphazardly.“Yoongi hyung is gonna lose him MIND when he sees you. I am so excited. Jieun did a great job!”I frantically turned my head in panic to see Jieun’s reaction to Jimin’s undivided attention on me.But I furrowed my eyebrows when I saw her attached to Tae’s side, staring up at him in adoration and paying zero attention to Jimin and I.“Jimin-ah—”“Hyung told me. I’m really happy for you guys! He’s a good guy and he’s gonna treat you right.” Jimin chirped happily as he lead me down the stairs toward his car, squeezing my shoulders in excitement.I didn’t bother attempting to correct him. It wasn’t worth the fight. The boys shooed us to the front as soon as we arrived at the usual venue, Jimin yelling about how he wanted to see Yoongi’s jaw drop literally to the floor while they were on stage.“Hey, Jieunie…” I started once she returned to the front with drinks for us.“What’s up?” She asked, sounding even more chipper than usual as she handed me my drink.“I was under the impression that you had a thing for Jimin… not Tae…” I whispered carefully, making sure no one around us could hear. She choked on the drink as she took a sip, startling me slightly before I reached to pat her back.“Truthfully… I don’t know anymore.” She sighed once she managed to clear her throat.“I should have talked to you about it earlier, but with everything going on between you and Yoongi I kept it to myself…”“I saw the way you were looking at Tae. I think the answer is obvious.” I shot back with a knowing smirk.“Shut up.” She whined, playfully punching my arm as I chuckled at her reaction.“I don’t know its just… I can tell that he really cares, you know? Its always fun when he’s around, he never makes me sad, and he’s way too nice for his own good.” She sighed, her gaze straying toward the closed curtain in front of us.“I think he’s good for you. I certainly like him way more than your ex.” I scoffed at the memory.“Yeah, well, I learned from my mistakes.” She responded with a roll of her eyes. “But it’s pretty clear that Minnie isn’t interested in me that way, so there is no point in holding onto that crush.”“How mature of you!” I cooed, smacking her back lightly. “And so unlike you!”“Don’t patronize me! I am technically an adult!” She pouted, making me laugh.“He hasn’t confessed to me yet, but I think its coming soon. Hey, maybe we can go on double dates!”I reached over and smacked her again at that statement, this time making her laugh. Our conversation was cut short as the lights dimmed, signaling the start of the show. Everyone was screaming excitedly, but as the curtains opened, only one of them was standing at the center, the spotlight falling onto his back as the track began.I ran while only looking forward without any chance to look around meat some point I became the pride of my family and to some extent, I succeededI found myself leaning forward and gripping tightly onto the railing in front of me, mesmerized by the scene of the boy that had gained my affections in front of me.It was a bit nostalgic, really. I remember the first time I saw the light shine on him like that when I first saw them perform.Everyone around me said it, don’t go overboardif you act like a know-it-all thinking you’re going to make music, you’ll destroy your homefrom that time I didn’t care, no matter what anyone saidI’d only live for my interests and my passionsI had no idea, the moment I’d met him, that he would become this important to me. Could I have ever known that the boy with mint green hair would change my life?Or, even more of a miracle, that that boy could feel the same things about me?What I want to ask the people who prayed for me to fuck updo I seem like I destroyed my home, you bastards?I felt my chest swell with immeasurable pride as he finally turned to face the audience, his eyes still shut as he rapped passionately to the cheers from the crowd. If you can’t go back, now you can win over all those mistakesnever mind, its not easy but engrave it on your chestif you seem like you’re going to crash, step harder, kidIt wasn’t until the rest of the boys came out and his intro ended that Yoongi lifted his gaze to the crowd, in search of me.Its amazing, isn’t it? A boy that shines as brightly as him is looking out in a crowd of hundreds, looking only for me. I’m not sure I understood how lucky I was to have gained his affections until this moment. His eyes finally landed on me and an unconscious smile fell onto his lips. I vaguely wondered if he was worried that I’d run the other direction after last night.I simply watched as his eyes scanned over my body, pleased when I saw a visible blush spread across his cheeks as he swallowed hard, his adam’s apple visibly moving.I bit my lip and smiled smugly back at him, raising an eyebrow once his eyes came to focus back on my face.He immediately turned away from me and stormed off to the other side of the stage, making me let out a laugh as Jimin trailed after him, his face lit up as his laugh matched my own.“He’s cute, he’s cute!” Jieun giggled as she grabbed my arm, thoroughly amused at Yoongi’s reaction. They played a couple more of their more upbeat songs and stopped for a quick talk before switching to the more melancholy ones. Each of the boys stood in a single line across the stage as Jungkook began the first verse.Don’t think of anythingDon’t say anything, not even a wordJust give me a smileI felt my heart clench at the beginning of the familiar verse, my hands naturally shooting to my chest to clutch it in a vain attempt to control the emotions I felt in that second.I still can’t believe itAll of this seems like a dreamDon’t try to disappear“Tae’s voice is so beautiful.” Jieun whispered to me as she kept her eyes glued onto the boy, not even noticing how quickly I tensed up at the start of the song.Is it true Is it trueYou YouYou’re so beautiful, that I’m scaredUntrue UntrueYou You YouShe turned to look at me briefly and immediately noticed my change in body language. I had both my arms held tightly against my heart, my shoulders tensed together as I stared up at the sullen expressions of the boys. Will you stay by my sideWill you promise meIf I let go of your hand, you’ll fly away and breakI’m scared scared scared of that“Yujin…” Jieun started as she reached a hand onto my shoulder in concern. I didn’t have the capacity to react to her, focusing all my energy on not crumbling into the ground at this live rendition of a song that I knew so well. Will you stop timeIf this moment passesAs though it hadn’t happenedI’m scared scared scared I’ll lose youButterfly like a ButterflyJust like a Butterfly bu butterflyButterfly like a butterflyJust like a Butterfly bu butterfly“Is… this song about you?” She finally muttered in realization as she turned me slightly toward her so I couldn’t ignore her question. I nodded once, barely, unable to formulate any words. If I thought listening to the song alone in my room was bad, this will be impossible. You’re just like a ButterflyFrom afar, I steal glances; if we touch hands, will I lose you?You shine in this pitch darkness that is the butterfly effectYour light touches, I forget the reality at onceIt was almost completely on reflex that the tears begun leaking out of my eyes when I heard his smooth voice cut in with the rap. I heard Jieun sniffle next to me, moving herself closer so she could rest her head on my shoulder and wrap her arms around me, in an attempt to comfort. It’s like a wind that gently strokes meIt’s like a dust that gently drifts alongYou’re there but for some reason, I can’t reach you, stopYou, who’s like a dream is a butterfly high to meIt all came pouring out so fast, tears I couldn’t control as I felt Jieun squeeze my abdomen while her own sniffles sounded in my ear. I clutched my own shirt since my arms were locked in place by her embrace.Yoongi’s eyes were closed and his head was tilted to the ceiling, sweat visibly dripping down his neck as he bit his lip in what I could only assume was nervousness. Will you stay by my sideWill you promise meIf I let go of your hand, you’ll fly away and breakI’m scared scared scared of thatWill you stop timeIf this moment passesAs though it hadn’t happenedI’m scared scared scared I’ll lose you“He loves you so much.” Jieun sighed in my ear, her voice cracking as she cried harder at her own statement. Jieun always was one to be more openly emotional, but I was still surprised that she was sitting here crying for me.“This is the most beautiful thing I have ever witnessed.”The small pieces guttered down darklyFrom my heart, a barren noiseI don’t know if this is reality or a dreamMy Kafka on the seasideDon’t go to those woods over thereMy heart is still shattering on you(I just wanted to vaporize like this)My love that is foreverIt’s all free for you babyHis eyes finally dared to look down at me, the stone facade on his features melting only slightly when he saw the state I was in, with my roommate clinging to me for dear life as she openly sobbed. One side of his lips quirked upwards in a smile before he turned his attention away from me so he couldn’t be caught staring. The crowd went mad when the song ended, a few of the usual girls around us asking if we were okay through their own tears.“Its not over yet.” I muttered to J
